The University Secretary reports to the President of Victoria University and is also directly accountable to the Chair of the Board of Regents. In addition, the University Secretary serves as Secretary to the Senate, supporting individuals charged with Victoria University’s bicameral governance model.  The role is a senior governance position of trust, responsible for enabling effective institutional governance through authoritative procedural advice, stewardship of official records, and impartial support to the Board of Regents, the Senate, and their committees.  In this capacity, the University Secretary also serves as steward of the University’s institutional policy framework, providing oversight of policy development, review, and lifecycle management in support of effective governance and institutional assurance.  The University Secretary also provides leadership and day to day oversight for the governance office, including the Governance and Projects Coordinator.

Director, Infrastructure and Sustainability Management

Reporting to the Associate CAO, Infrastructure, Sustainability and Capital Planning, the Director, Infrastructure and Sustainability Management provides strategic and operational leadership for the stewardship, performance, renewal and sustainability of the University's buildings, infrastructure, utilities, grounds and physical assets. The position ensures the University's physical environment is safe, reliable, sustainable and responsive to current and future institutional needs. The Director leads facilities operations, infrastructure and asset management, capital renewal planning and sustainability initiatives, including energy management, decarbonization, climate resilience and environmental stewardship. Informed by asset condition, deferred maintenance, operational risk and institutional priorities, the Director establishes long-term lifecycle strategies and advises senior leadership on renewal priorities, resource requirements and capital planning decisions. The Director oversees building operations and maintenance, utilities, grounds and campus infrastructure, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, health and safety standards and University policies. Working closely with Capital Planning & Development, the position provides operational and technical expertise throughout the planning, design, construction and commissioning of capital projects and ensures their effective transition into ongoing operations. The position is accountable for the portfolio’s financial and resource management, including operating budgets, capital renewal forecasts, business cases and initiatives to improve service delivery and lifecycle value. The Director leads teams responsible for facilities operations, infrastructure, maintenance, grounds and sustainability, oversees workforce planning, staff development and employee and labour relations and builds organizational capacity while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented and accountable culture. As a senior leader, the Director builds effective relationships across the University and with consultants, contractors, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders, and represents the University on matters related to infrastructure, asset management, facilities operations and sustainability.
